Shakespeare For Youth Productions
Current ECT professional productions include Much Ado About Nothing – Mariachi Style and Romeo & Juliet – A Zoot Suit Musical.
Both plays combine the accessible, colorful language of the Bard with contemporary bilingual elements and live music. Set in relevant historic context, young audiences are drawn into each comic or dramatic plot line whose universal themes speak to the students of their rich cultural heritage as well as California’s unique past.
Each performance runs for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes with a 45-minute cast and student dialogue thereafter.
ECT offers a comprehensive study guide as well as pre- and post-show workshops led by professional actors that provide the students an overview of theater etiquette and appreciation, and interactive breakdown of the basic plot and exploration of the themes of the play and their application to everyday life.
